Reef Check Welcomes Dania Trespalacios as New Tropical Program Director!

Dania Trespalacios has joined Reef Check as the Director of Reef Check’s Tropical Program! She will lead the effort to support and strengthen Reef Check’s network of EcoDivers, Trainers, Coordinators and partners that drive Reef Check’s mission of conserving coral reefs for future generations. Dania has worked on marine conservation for more than a decade, contributing to ocean science, policy, and management at government, non-profit and international organizations. She is excited to join Reef Check, and she hopes to speak with you soon!


Commercial and Recreational Urchin Removal Efforts Tested Along California’s North Coast in Hopes of Kelp Forest Restoration


Reef Check is collecting “before” and “after” data at survey sites where our partners – commercial and recreational divers – are removing purple urchins. The data we collect will assist in the evaluation of these restorative efforts and their effectiveness in changing these reefs from urchin barrens back into kelp forests.

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan Certifies First Female EcoDivers

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) recently hosted a Reef Check EcoDiver Training in Aqaba. This training marked a huge milestone with the participation of three female divers- Jordan’s first female EcoDivers!


Egypt’s Red Sea Diving Safari Completes Busy Slate of Trainings and Surveys

2018 marks the tenth year of the Reef Check monitoring program started by Red Sea Diving Safari (RSDS) and EcoDiver Course Director Stephan Moldzio to conduct regular surveys at the most important dive sites of RSDS. This year’s two-week journey featured a full program with two EcoDiver courses, two EcoDiver Trainer courses and five full surveys.


The Bluemoon Adventure Offers New Diving Adventure Tailored for Women
