Become an Adopt-A-Reef partner!
The Adopt-a-Reef program aims to partner with California’s corporate brands to sponsor and support the community-based monitoring and conservation of California’s reefs and kelp forests.
The Reef Check Foundation successfully launched the Adopt-a-Reef program in 2012 at a Dana Point community and media event held by our four founding partners: the St. Regis Monarch Beach, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, the Doubletree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach, Dana Point, and the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa. Through partnerships with coastal communities and California’s ocean minded companies, the Adopt-a-Reef program leverages the support and resources of local businesses to directly sponsor local volunteer dive teams to annually monitor the health of their local marine ecosystems. By replicating this model on a statewide basis, the Adopt-a-Reef program engages California’s business community to take direct action, and a very proactive and forward-thinking stance, in moving beyond business-specific environmentally friendly practices towards actions that positively impact their local, and our global, community and environment.
By becoming an Adopt-a-Reef partner, your tax-deductable donation will directly sponsor your local community to monitor and conserve its reefs, kelp forests, coast and ocean. As the only organization that is directly engaged in the monitoring and conservation of California’s reefs, Reef Check is the ideal non-profit organization for your business to partner with in making a strong local and global statement about your company’s environmental and social commitment.
Your sponsorship of local reefs will help us to raise awareness through scientific research, education, and community engagement so as to reverse current declines in the ocean’s vitality, diversity, health and beauty. This will directly lead to a stronger and more sustainable California, while also inspiring people to make informed choices that contribute to ocean ecosystem health and a strong grassroots movement towards the protection and conservation of California’s ocean ecosystems. Our close working relationship with the state agencies making management and conservation decisions guarantees that our volunteers' efforts are channeled into California’s marine management process and that the information they collect is used to protect coastal rocky reefs and kelp forest communities. Your financial support will allow Reef Check to strengthen, educate and empower your local California coastal community through the conservation of California’s coasts and ocean. There are no other groups doing what we do, and we need your support to do it.
